YOUTH COURSE: keyboard only (3rd grade and up)
This course is designed for the new student desiring to learn the foundational concepts of the piano, and how to apply those concepts to the worship experience. Using “John Thompson’s Modern Course for the Piano” as our main textbook, we want to enable the student to think and feel musically. Some of the foundational principles will include the following: hand position, musical form, chords, rhythm, tempo, scales, notes and more.
Our course will also include taking the basic principles of piano and applying them to a worship atmosphere, which will include chording, "playing by ear", leading others, and more.
It is our goal by the end of our 10 week program to know whether or not the individual student has what it takes to move ahead in the field of piano techniques.
ADULT COURSE: keyboard, song writing, vocal performance
This course deals with the adult who is desiring to learn basic music instruction, chord patterns, "playing by ear", song writing -- and taking it all to the stage...and more. Upon the students request, we can focus on any of the mentioned subjects.
